THE LAW OF GIVING.

Martial ZounonBy Martial Zounon · April 13, 2022 · 4 min read

There is one constant and striking observation to be made about our society: a great many people complain that life is getting harder and harder. Some of them cannot understand how others always manage to lead a peaceful life and wear a frank smile from the first of January to the thirty-first of December. Well then! Settle in comfortably, because with this article you are literally going to begin living better.

The individuals who lead a more or less fulfilled life in spite of these difficult times that all of humanity is passing through have made the application of certain spiritual and universal laws their own. There are seven (7) of them, and in this article we are going to turn our attention to one of them: the law of giving.

This law is simple: give what you want to receive. The universe operates through dynamic exchange, so when you give, you create a current of energy that circulates. Deciding to give what we want to receive allows the abundance of the universe to flow through our lives. And since we are all connected, that energy will come back to you. It will even come back to you tenfold, above all if a wholesome intention precedes the act of giving. Deepak Chopra teaches us that: "The energy contained in giving multiplies many times over" .

To give expecting nothing in return, with an honest and open heart, is to sow on very fertile ground. The harvest is always abundant. But a gift made without the energy of love will be empty and will have no effect whatsoever.

How do we put the law of giving into practice?

Wherever we go, whoever the person we meet may be, we will give them something:

  • a smile;
  • a compliment;
  • a flower;
  • a coin;
  • a prayer;
  • and so on.

We can make material gifts just as much as immaterial ones. Whatever it may be, give, and give with a good heart. Give much or give little, but give all the same. We remember the lesson of the poor widow in the Bible. The widow gave only two coins as an offering, yet Jesus declared that she had given more than all the rich (Luke 21:1-4). Antoine Lavoisier’s famous assertion also bears out the law of giving: "Nothing is lost, nothing is created. Everything is transformed." A good deed is never lost; it will come back to you one way or another.

Speaking of giving, particular attention must be paid to money. Up to a certain level of low maturity, we believe that holding on to money, economizing, saving and accumulating it are sound choices for ending up with more of it. Allow me to set you free today by telling you that this notion is FALSE, FALSE and FALSE. Fortunately, I would add. Otherwise money would not circulate at all. Like a river, money must keep flowing, keep circulating, in order to keep streaming into our lives…

You have to understand that money is life energy. It is a means and not an end. It should only ever allow us to buy things and to help our neighbour. As the Bible says, speaking of the rich of this present world: "Let them do good, let them be rich in fine works, let them give with joy, let them share with others" (1 Timothy 6:18). By hoarding wealth, we immobilize that energy and we keep it from streaming into the lives of others, and therefore into our own.

Let us also accept with gratitude every gift we receive: the light of the sun, the rain, money, snow, compliments, prayers, and so on.

Giving and receiving are only different aspects of the flow of energy in the universe. Consequently, let us above all not refuse the gifts of our fellow human beings, for in doing so we block their blessings and keep them from benefiting from all the good that flows out of the act of giving.

Let us make a habit of protecting the circulation of wealth in our lives by giving and receiving the most precious goods of existence. Those are the immaterial gifts mentioned above. They cost nothing, but giving them opens you up to thousands of graces:

  • attention;
  • affection;
  • respect;
  • love;
  • time, perhaps the most precious of all, for it runs away like a river that never returns to its bed. Time given is never recovered, but neither is it lost if it is given with heart.

To give with love is to bless yourself and to expect many graces!
To receive with gratitude is to bless the other person and to allow them to expect many graces!

Begin practising the law of giving by letting someone read this article today. You are richer than you think. Do not forget that it is by giving that you will receive abundantly.
By being better, we attract the best!

Blessings be upon you!
